The headset features a dual 4K+ super-sense display with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, providing enhanced detail with a rendering resolution of 1920×1920.

For Mixed Reality, the device is equipped with two 32MP RGB cameras and an iToF depth-sensing camera on the exterior, which captures reality and blends it with the virtual layer for a complete MR experience.

Powered by a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 SoC, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage, the PICO 4 Ultra delivers robust graphics processing while remaining lightweight and easy to handle, weighing approximately 580g. The ringless controller is lighter and more comfortable to hold, complemented by an internal broadband linear motor that delivers refined haptic feedback.

Beyond improved hardware and design, the “Ultra” designation is justified by the new PICO Motion Tracker, which enables full-body motion tracking when worn by users. The brand’s proprietary multimodal fusion tracking solution ensures accurate and responsive tracking, which can be experienced in popular apps like VRChat, Tempo Club, and Les Mills Dance.

On the software side, PICO Malaysia highlighted the multi-window operation within the panoramic workspace interface, allowing users to freely adjust the location and size of various windows, with seamless toggling between immersive and passthrough modes.

All of these features are made possible by the extensive hardware within the system, including four environmental tracking cameras for SLAM spatial positioning, the previously mentioned outer cameras, and further optimizations that minimize edge distortion and overlay issues.

Additional notable features include:

  • Ability to record spatial video (up to 2048×1536 at 60FPS)
  • Support for spatial images and videos captured by Apple iPhone 15 Pro / Vision Pro
  • Wi-Fi 7 compatibility for minimal latency
  • 48 MR titles and 21 Motion Tracker-enhanced titles at launch, with backward compatibility for existing software
