A10 Acquires ThreatX Protect

With the rise of cyber threats targeting web applications and APIs, ThreatX Protect’s WAAP solution provides enterprises with advanced defense mechanisms, including behavioral and risk profiling to counter evolving attacks, particularly those aimed at AI-driven applications. Delivered as a SaaS solution, it features API protection, bot management, and a next-generation web application firewall.

As part of the transition, the remaining assets of ThreatX will be rebranded as Run Security, with TX Prevent relaunching as RS Prevent, an eBPF-based security solution.

A10 Networks’ President and CEO emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating, “Expanding the A10 Defend security portfolio with ThreatX Protect gives our customers an additional tool in their strategy to protect against new and evolving threats. Our strategic focus is on securing applications and networks from today’s growing threats while also addressing emerging AI security needs. Adding WAAP strengthens our security portfolio and enhances our customers’ ability to maintain a strong security posture.”

Echoing this sentiment, ThreatX CEO Gene Fay expressed enthusiasm for the deal, saying, “We are thrilled that A10 Networks has acquired certain assets of ThreatX, including the brand and the TX Protect WAAP solution, to expand A10’s security portfolio. A10 has been a fantastic partner throughout this process, and we are confident that our customers and employees will thrive under their leadership.”

ThreatX Protect aligns with A10’s vision of providing robust security solutions across hybrid environments, securing applications and APIs in public and private clouds, co-location facilities, and on-premises infrastructure. By integrating WAAP into its A10 Defend portfolio alongside DDoS protection and threat intelligence services, A10 Networks delivers a more comprehensive security framework for mission-critical applications.

Although the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, A10 Networks assures that the acquisition aligns with its long-term growth strategy and will not significantly impact its 2025 financial outlook or operational model.
