ASUS ZenFone 4

ASUS has made official that South Korean actor Gong Yoo is the new ASUS ZenFone 4 Asia Pacific Brand Ambassador. Now many of you fangirls and fanboys must be wondering what’s the deal with the ZenFone 4 which scheduled to be announced on 17th August. Fret not as we guide you through what we know about the device.

Design

From the official photo provided by ASUS, Gong Yoo is holding a phone which we can safely assume is the upcoming ZenFone 4. Even though we don’t get to see what’s going on at the front of the phone, but at least the back panel is now fully exposed.

As seen from the concentric circles’ reflection of the back panel, it is apparent that ASUS has retained the same Zen design language. Apart from that, the back panel’s reflection also shows that ASUS is employing the glass-metal-glass sandwich design.

While the dual lens camera is very obvious here, but we have to point out that the fingerprint scanner is missing from the back panel.

The official photo of the ZenFone 4 Max further strengthens this speculation. So front mounted fingerprint scanner, anyone?

Specs

The ZenFone 4’s hardware specification is probably the most well-kept secret by ASUS. Up until the time of writing of this article, we still have no leaks of the device itself. So we have resorted to studying their previous devices specs as well as the ZenFone 4 Max’s specs.

What we can expect is:

  • Snapdragon 600 series SoC, possibly the SD626 or SD630
  • 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants
  • 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage variants; Of course with MicroSD card support
  • 5.5-inch 1080p display

Camera

From the hashtag and the official ZenFone 4 website URL – WeLovePhoto, it is clear that the new ASUS ZenFone series is emphasising a lot on the camera department. The promotional posters with captions also shows that the camera will be:

  • Time to be more than ONE – Dual lens camera
  • Time to see more than ONE – One wide angle lens; one telephoto zoom lens
  • Time to see MORE – High-resolution photos OR the use of dual lens camera to enhance photo details
  • Time to be CLEARER – Good low light performance
