DJI Mavic Mini Debuts in Malaysia
3 min readIn the drone market, DJI’s is known throughout the world for pushing out the smallest, compact drones. With that in mind, DJI has just released its latest drone, the DJI Mavic Mini. An ultra-light drone weighting at only 249 grams( which is slightly heavier than your phone), is also fold-able to the size of the palm of your hand. The DJI Mavic Mini debuted at the DJI Kuala Lumpur official launch event held in conjunction with VSTECS Astar, DJI’s authorized distributor in Malaysia.
As the smallest and lightest DJI drone ever made, this puts the Mavic Mini in the safest drone category which many areas will exempt it from regulations that may apply to other heavier drones such as the Mavic Pro.
Unfortunately, unlike the Mavic Pro, the Mavic Mini is unable to deliver 4K video recording which is the standard for most videographers nowadays. The Mavic Mini maximum resolution is at 2.7K at 30 fps and 1080p at 60 fps. Camera-wise, the Mavic Mini has a 12MP camera with 3-axis motorized gimbal support which helps stabilizes the camera ensuring smooth, cinematic footages for your projects.
The DJI Mavic Mini is able to fly up to 30 minutes with a Wi-Fi transmission signal and an HD live feed. It also has GPS receivers and downward sensors to detect the ground below to enable precise, stable hovering, flying and landing for both indoors and out.
Other than that, the Mavic Mini has included some safety features that DJI claimed it made it the safest drone on the market. DJI has included geofencing to help pilots avoid restricted areas and an AeroScope remote identification to help protect sensitive locations, built-in altitude limits and an automatic return to the launch point if the drone loses connection to the controller or it’s battery reaches critically low levels.
The new DJI Mavic Mini is available for pre-order at VSTECS resellers and DJI’s authorized retailers across Malaysia in 2 purchase options. The standard package includes the Mavic Mini, a remote control, one battery, extra propellers and all necessary tools and cables for RM 1,599. Secondly is the Mavic Mini Fly More Combo which will include all the components from the standard package with an addition of a 360° Propeller Cage, a Two-Way charging Hun, two additional batteries, three extra sets of propellers and a carrying case for RM 1,999. The Mavic Mini will start shipping starting in mid-November 2019.
