Galaxy AI x Google: Circle to Search
During the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Cathy Edwards, Google VP and GM for Search presented a new AI feature called “Circle to Search“. This feature allows you to search for literally anything on your phone’s screen without leaving the app or website. You can circle, highlight, scribble, or tap on the object you want to search and get more contextual information right where you are.
Just like what we have discussed in our previous editorial, Galaxy AI is not just Samsung’s proprietary development. This is the very demonstration of how technology giants work together to make better technology. Circle to Search is co-developed with Google as an addition to Galaxy AI and Google’s stable of AI and machine learning-based features, making such interactions more human. The possibilities are endless. You can search for more information on a new pair of running shoes you saw on some website, or circle a dish on a food delivery app and get more info on how healthy it is for you.
Cathy explains, “With a simple gesture, you can select what you’re curious about in whatever way comes naturally to you—like circling, highlighting, scribbling or tapping—and get more information right where you are”.
Circle to Search Experience
We put the feature to the test with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
An important aspect of this feature is that it allows you to search on whichever app or website you are on, without having to leave it, making it a minimally distracting task so you can continue to go on and finish what you were doing on the app in the first place. It will even work with text and understanding the context.
Honestly, this is probably one of the best upgrades we’re getting, all thanks to the collaboration between Samsung and Google.
