Cutting edge AI-infused medical technology showcased at Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023 event
The Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023 concluded its 7th edition earlier this week, bringing together visitors and exhibitors from across the globe for a showcase of technology, networking opportunities, and fostering a positive atmosphere within the industry.
Featuring a record-breaking 2,300 booths, the event saw participation from over 650 domestic and international organizations. These participants engaged in discussions ranging from potential business deals to matchmaking sessions among hospital directors.
The expo underscored the Taiwanese government’s commitment to the medical industry, emphasizing the transformative potential of AI. From streamlining daily tasks like report generation and appointment reminders to groundbreaking discoveries in drug development and techniques, AI showcased its capacity to address previously “unsolvable” challenges.
Wong Chi-Huey, President of the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI), attributed the exhibition’s success to Taiwan’s unique blend of robust healthcare quality and facilities with innovative technology, exemplified by the SNQ certification and endorsement. This annual process recognizes healthcare teams influencing global treatment guidelines and enhancing healthcare quality.
Barry Lam, Vice President of IBMI, highlighted the significance of cross-disciplinary cooperation in driving technological advancements in medical and health applications.
The expo, aiming to become a global peak in AI smart healthcare, represents only a fraction of IBMI’s initiatives. Another expo, tailored towards elder care and hospitality, is currently in the planning stages and is scheduled for December 5 to 8 next year.
President Tsai Ing-wen commended Taiwan’s strong position and expertise in IT, healthcare, clinical practices, biomedical innovation, and precision healthcare since 2016. The enactment of the ‘Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Development Act’ last year reflected the government’s commitment to critical areas such as regenerative medicine, precision medicine, and digital healthcare.
To further support the biotechnology sector, the cabinet has increased incentives for contract manufacturers, aligning with the goal of achieving the projected market value of NTD1 trillion.
