The HIDIZS ST2 PRO Nebula (hereby we shall address it as ST2) is a fascinating device that challenges the traditional notion of portable audio. This 2-in-1 marvel seamlessly blends a high-performance USB-C DAC with a pair of high-quality in-ear earphones, offering a convenient and immersive listening experience.
Before we get into the review, I do have a minor complain in regards to the product’s naming consistency. While the packaging has clearly stated the product is called the ST2 PRO, however, their website product page is showing ST2 Nebula. I really hope they could decide what to call this product because I genuinely thought they have a Pro and non-Pro variants. Now back to the review.
What’s in the box
Design and Build Quality
The ST2 boasts a sleek and minimalist design.
The earphone unit itself is made out of resin with etched aluminium alloy for branding. Overall, the earphone unit has a reasonable build quality to it.
The package includes 3 sets of silicone eartips.
The cables are removable. It makes things easier if you ever wanted to upgrade the parts.
The in-ear earphones feature a comfortable ergonomic design, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit for extended listening sessions.
The integrated USB-C DAC module is compact and lightweight. It has a transparent window to showcase the ES9281AC Pro DAC.
The PCB also includes a LED indicator to inform you the audio sample rate:
- RED: PCM 44.1-48 kHz
- BLUE: PCM 88.2 – 384 kHz
The package also includes a USB-A adapter should you want to use it on PCs with only USB-A ports.
Sound Quality
One of the most impressive aspects of the ST2 is its remarkable sound quality. The 10mm dynamic driver delivers a balanced and detailed sound signature, with rich bass and crisp highs. While the mids are decently bright, I wouldn’t describe it as crispy. In rare occasions, the vocals might sound a bit muddy. However, I don’t think it is a big deal as the overall audio experience has been pleasant and immersive.
