Huawei nova 2 Plus

At the front is a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, which is common for a device at the price of RM 1,999. The IPS panel has good colour reproduction and great viewing angle. The brightness level is extremely flexible as it gets really bright at the highest level and reasonably dim at the lowest level. What this means is that device is extremely versatile whether you use under bright sunlight or in a dimly lit room. The factory installed screen protector while provides out of the box protection, but the surface quality is not what I would say “smooth”. This actually affects my gaming experience since certain games would require fast and accurate touch response.

The overall rear of the Huawei nova 2 Plus is very similar to the Huawei P10/P10 Plus with the exception of the camera “visor” at the top and the fingerprint scanner position. The body is very well constructed and felt robust in the hands. The weighty feel also contributes to the overall high quality and solid build impression. Combined with the rounded corners and curved edges, holding the phone in the hands is an absolute joy.

The mono channel speaker can be found at the bottom, just like most of the smartphones out there. While the speaker may not provide the best experience in terms of mobile entertainment, such as watching movies or gaming, nonetheless, speaker phone calls and voice messages are loud and clear over it.

If you’re a music lover, fret not as Huawei has got you covered. The phone is built in with the AKM AK4376a HiFi chip as well as support for Qualcomm aptX wireless Bluetooth audio technology. While I can’t comment if the aptX technology actually makes a huge difference in terms of Bluetooth audio quality, but at least the sound quality over a wired earphones is clean thanks to the HiFi chip.
