This year, Huawei is stepping up their game in the camera department with the release of the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro.

The key change in the P20 series is the Leica camera system, especially the Leica Triple Camera on the P20 Pro. The primary colour sensor has been bumped up to 40MP while the monochrome sensor retains the same 20MP. On top of that, the new addition to the camera system is the 8MP sensor + 80mm telephoto lens. Of course, Huawei has been touting all the amazing AI features that come along with the camera system. Frankly speaking, we still have tonnes of questions on how well would the camera perform in real life situation. If you guys are wondering the same, stay tuned to us for our review of the Huawei P20 Pro’s camera.
Now the rest of the specs are pretty straight-forward, Kirin 970 SoC with built-in Neural Processing Unit, 4 GB (P20) or 6 GB (P20 Pro) of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage that supports microSD expansion. The display notch is not new and we do live in a weird transition process where phone manufacturers struggle to maximise the screen real estate without having to sacrifice all the required sensors and outputs. Then again, I wonder why they won’t put a notch at the bottom of the phone, surrounding the fingerprint sensor as well. Wouldn’t that create an even unique identity to the P20 series?
