Kingston grabs 6th victory in total SSD shipped in 2022 according to latest TrendForce report
1 min readTrendForce’s most recent market research report on total SSD shipments is now available, and once again, Kingston has emerged as the top performer.
Securing an impressive 28% market share, this figure is calculated from the total shipment of 114 million units across the entire market. Despite a shift in the supply and demand dynamics from 2021 to 2022, the trend continues to point towards a 10.7% year-over-year decline.
The global economic landscape of 2023 has also influenced how module makers handle inventory, particularly in their pricing strategies. Coupled with the significant advantage of PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs rapidly closing in on older PCIe 3.0 products and surpassing SATA-based drives, TrendForce predicts an ongoing phase-out of slower storage products. In their place, faster and feature-rich products are expected to gain increasing recognition and shipping volume.
Kingston’s success in 2022 can be attributed to the substantial contribution of the NV2 client NVMe SSD, with sales surpassing 12 million units. Meanwhile, the high-end FURY Renegade family of storage products stands out for its aesthetics and performance in the enthusiast tier.
