IFA 2018: Lenovo Showcases Smart Home Essentials
2 min readAs the smart home trend arises, at IFA 2018, Lenovo too shares their vision of a smart home with the unveiling of a number of smart devices.
Lenovo Smart Home Essentials
Lenovo aims to aggregate the smart device landscape with the introduction of the Lenovo Smart Home Essentials. It is a family of always-connected devices that allows users to manage their smart home ecosystem.
The Lenovo Smart Display and Lenovo Link app will be serving as the centralised control centre for all applicable devices. This eliminated the requirement for an individual app for each and every device. Hence it supports device grouping and automation where users can customise them to their heart’s content. Of course, it also works with the popular digital assistants such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Lenovo Smart Essentials Includes:
- Lenovo Smart Plug – plug into any outlet and convert them into a remotely controllable plug
- Lenovo Smart Camera – a surveillance camera that lets you monitor live video footage inside the home. With built-in infrared night vision, mic and speaker (for two-way audio)
- Lenovo Smart Bulb – a smart light bulb that lets users remotely schedule and customize lighting—adjusting colour temperature and dim brightness, or turning it on and off from anywhere and at any time through the Lenovo Link app
The Lenovo Smart Essentials range of products will be available starting in the US in November and is expected to expand to other markets including EMEA and Australia later. Lenovo Smart Display is expected to be available in Australia and the UK starting in October.
