LG Introduces G8X ThinQ with a Dual Screen Extension

Just when the momentum on fold-able smartphones have taken a slow-down from Huawei and Samsung, the Korean giant has entered the arena with a whole new category. LG has unveiled it’s latest G series smartphone the LG G8X ThinQ and the LG Dual Screen extension accessory, giving you more screen space and immersiveness to your mobile experience.

The LG G8X ThinQ has a 6.4-inch display, 6GB RAM and 128GB Storage with expandable storage available which would be enough for most people. The rear camera on the G8X ThinQ packs a dual-camera system with standard and super-wide lens. But the front-facing camera is a whopping 32MP beast. The battery is relatively large at 4,000 mAh enabling you to last practically the whole day. Other than that, it’s a phone with many of the features of a smartphone nowadays like in-display fingerprint sensor, decent video recording capabilities and unpopularly among phone manufacturers, a headphone jack.

While the phone sounds impressive, the highlight, however, is the LG Dual Screen. After pairing this to the G8X ThinQ, the 6.4-inch display offers a 360 Freestop Hinge to allow viewing at any angle just like a laptop. Clearly it can be seen here that LG has taken the time ensuring the symmetry of the phone and it is an accessory. While the hand-size laptop-looking device is closed, the additional 2.1-inch display on the outside will show you the time, date, battery percentage, notifications and other notification that you so wish to see without needing to open the Dual Screen.

Coupling it together might be weighty as the Dual Screen weighs 134g while the LG G8X ThinQ weighs 192g bring it to a total of 326g. However, a review will need to be held to determine if it’s really a problem. It has to be noted too that the Dual Screen does not have a battery. Battery life might not be so great for the whole day on a 4,000mAh battery.

Both the LG G8X ThinQ and the LG Dual Screen is available only in Aurora Black starting September 6th-11th.
