There are a few aspects that make the Nokia 8 one of my favourite smartphones as of the time of this review. Starting off with the display, at 5.3 inches, the size falls right in between my preference of 5-5.5 inch. It means the phone is just about the right size for one-handed use.
At the price we’re paying, I was initially expecting it to be a 1080p Full HD display, but guess what ? The display is a 1440p Quad HD resolution IPS panel. That explains why the text and images look sharp on it.
The chassis is made of aluminium alloy with a sandblasted surface finish. Albeit it is a bit slippery but holding the phone in the hands is an absolute joy especially with the curved edges and rounded corners.
Even though The fingerprint scanner has smaller surface area, but it is still capable of capturing light touches. What really bothers me is the delay upon touching the fingerprint scanner until the display turns on. I am sure it is not the hardware to blame because every acknowledged authentication comes with a subtle vibration. Therefore it is the software side that requires fine-tuning.
The speaker on the Nokia 8 is mounted facing downwards and only comes in single channel configuration. I don’t mean it is terrible, just that the speaker is easily blocked and you don’t get the stereo experience.
