Xiaomi Malaysia has announced its official Android Go smartphone – the Redmi Go. The phone is launched under the Android Go program, this Google-backed initiative aims to provide affordable smartphones running on a highly efficient version of Android. Thus, the Redmi Go would run Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) right out of the box, a version of the operating system that has been optimised to reduce storage and data use.

The specs are not spectacular but what it really stands out is its extremely affordable price tag of RM299 and the official Google supported smartphone program. The device will go on sale starting from 13th April 2019 at Mi Stores, Lazada and Shopee.
