Final Thoughts
The Philips Hue system has opened up a whole new level in terms of home lighting. Through the app, we are able to control not just the brightness of the lighting, in fact, over 50,000 shades of white and 16Â million colours. The built-in routine function enables the user to create lighting schedules that accommodate your lifestyle.
Not to mention the Hue app also supports third-party app integration, for example, linking with Apple Home Kit and take control of the lights through Siri. In fact, you can do a lot more from the API itself such as syncing the lights with the movie or music.
Philips Malaysia is currently selling the A60 Starter Kit for RM 899 on their official Lazada store. Not sure why other Hue products are not found in their official Lazada store, but here’s the pricing and you can get them from authorised Philips store:
- Bulb E27 – RM 279
- Hue Bridge – RM 279
- Light strip – RM 129 – RM 399
Honestly speaking, the price is probably the only barrier that prevents wider adoption of smart lighting. Especially if you are planning to fully upgrade your home lighting, the total cost is going to be a bomb. Nonetheless, if you value the limitless possibilities that come with it, I think they are a pretty good investment.
