Review – Roborock S6 MaxV Smart Robot Vacuum
Roborock has arrived in Malaysia and we manage to get our hands onto their flagship model – the Roborock S6 MaxV for our office. For us, it is one of the best addition to the office since we’re always busy with editorials and video filming to the point where we “forget” to clean the office.
In this review, I will be sharing my personal user experience after using the S6 MaxV for about 1 month. Besides, I highly encourage you to watch our video review since it has all the information you might be looking for.

User Experience
Setup & User Experience
For a smart connected robot vacuum, the setup process is relatively simple as Roborock supports either their in-house mobile app or you can use it with Xiaomi’s Mi Home app. Don’t worry as the robot vacuum’s control and the interface is exactly the same on either application. Since we have been using Xiaomi’s Yeelight smart light bulb, so we straight away pair it with Mi Home for easy access.
The app will include a slew of features including robot vacuum maintenance, spot cleaning as well as setting up no-go zones.
The robot vacuum also supports some basic functionalities for users who are not interested in using the app. This is especially useful for family members such as parents who are not tech-savvy. For instance, by pressing the power button when the robot vacuum is docked will initiate the cleaning mode.
What makes this robot vacuum stands out from its siblings is the use of multiple sensors including the stereo camera and LiDAR sensor for better mapping and obstacle avoidance. Roborock also touted the onboard AI feature whereby the stereo camera is capable of recognising what’s in front of it.
The mapping function is so impressive as it accurately reproduced our office floor plan.
As mentioned earlier, our office is extremely dusty and dirty as we never bothered to clean it ourselves. On top of that, constant unboxing has left the studio floor full of plastic & styrofoam pieces. The Roborock S6 MaxV has done a magnificent job at cleaning the space and it even picks up all the carpet dust.
Maintenance
The dustbin will need to be cleaned often as the capacity is not something I would describe as big. Then again, it entirely depends on how dirty the cleaning zone is. The HEPA filter can be washed and Roborock has included a replacement in case you damaged the first one.
Apart from emptying the dustbin, you will need to make sure the roller brush is free from entanglements of hairs and random stuff.
That includes the side sweeper which can be maintained easily.
Mopping
The mopping function will require some user intervention such as refilling the water tank and placing the mop module to the bottom of the robot vacuum.
Since our office has carpet flooring, which one should never use the mopping function on it, we have conducted a non-scientific test which is to mop the table surface. The robot vacuum will regulate the water flow from the tank to the cloth as the robot moves around. This test also shows how reliable the anti-fall function of the S6 MaxV.
One thing we did not expect is the inclusion of the floor protector for the charging dock. This is very important because the wet mop will damage your wooden flooring if it stays at the same place for too long.
Conclusion
After one month of consistently using the robot vacuum, I am very impressed with its performance. First of all, while we can’t fully utilise all the features especially the mopping function, however, the vacuum function itself is more than enough for our use case. A single full charge is capable of vacuuming our 1700sqft office with about 40% battery left.
At the official retail price of RM3999, sure it might seem extremely expensive at first but here’s a tip, always check out for deals and promotions as Roborock would offer great discounts for a limited time.
