Camera
This is the first dual camera module for Samsung. Both have the identical 12-megapixel sensor but with different lens configuration – a standard angle f/1.7 lens and a 2x telephoto f/2.4 lens. A notable mention is that Samsung has found a way to integrate optical image stabilisation (OIS) for both lenses without interfering with each another. It is a great news especially telephoto lens are more sensitive to shakes and vibrations.
Also the first is the Live Focus + Dual Capture function where the dual camera at the back takes 2 photos simultaneously so you can have 2 photos with different field of view. Photos taken with Live Focus allows bokeh adjustment to create that creamy blurred background.
Image Quality
How’s the photo quality you asked? In short, Phenomenal.
The details are crisp, with wide dynamic range and absolutely stunning colours. Mind you that the camera app itself is equally amazing with an ultra-fast and responsive user interface. Focusing speed is stupidly fast and accurate that after using the phone for a short period of time, I totally forgot the need to check focus after every press of the shutter button.
Night time photo? I’ll leave you guys with the gallery and be your own judge.
