Samsung Galaxy Watch7 Mini Review: A Refreshing Upgrade
4 min readOver the years, Samsung has been continuously improving their smartwatch lineup, with the release of the Galaxy Watch7, the million dollar question remains: What can we expect from the latest iteration that justifies the upgrade over its Galaxy Watch6 predecessor?
Lineup Restructure (again)
First of all, gone is the Classic and Pro models. This year, Samsung is introducing a brand new sub-category: The Galaxy Watch Ultra – premium rugged smartwatch, meanwhile the Galaxy Watch7 stays as everyday smartwatch for fitness and health tracking.
Trusted Design and Comfort
If you’re used to the standard Galaxy Watches, the Watch7 will not surprise you anymore. As usual, a sleek and modern chassis, with 2 sizes (44mm & 40mm) and 2 colors (green, silver & cream) to suit different preferences.
The watch is comfortable to wear, even during extended periods, thanks to its lightweight construction. The MIL-STD-810H durable build ensures it can withstand the rigors of daily use.
The original silicone wrist band has a brand new wavy design that should provide extra breathing room compared to the previous iterations. You can still use your 20mm watch bands, so don’t worry about all your existing band collections. The exception would be for the cases, which is not going to be compatible as the Watch7 has a slightly thicker chassis.
Software and Integration
The Galaxy Watch7 runs on Samsung’s One UI Watch 6 with Android Wear OS 5. It offers a user-friendly interface and seamless integration with Samsung’s ecosystem. Even so, other brands can still enjoy the Galaxy Watch7 by installing the required companion app such as the Samsung Wear and Samsung Health. Unfortunately, for iOS users, you may want to skip this as the support on Apple devices is clearly underdeveloped.
You can easily sync your watch with your smartphone to access notifications, contacts, and other data. The watch also supports various third-party apps, expanding its functionality and customization options.
Health and Fitness Tracking
One of the standout features of the Galaxy Watch7 is its improved health tracking capabilities. It accurately monitors heart rate, blood pressure, sleep quality, stress levels, and even blood oxygen saturation.
The watch also supports a wide range of workout modes, making it a valuable tool for fitness enthusiasts. The built-in dual-frequency GPS allows for precise tracking of outdoor activities, providing detailed insights into your workouts.
Performance & Battery Life
The Galaxy Watch7 offers an upgraded battery life. I could easily get 2 days of battery life from a single full charge. That is quite impressive given that I have most of the features turned on, such as Always On Display and heart rate monitor. The battery performance may vary depending on factors such as screen brightness, feature usage, and workout intensity. However, the watch supports fast charging, allowing you to quickly top up the battery when needed.
Overall Impression
The Samsung Galaxy Watch7 is a versatile smartwatch that excels in health and fitness tracking, smart features, and design. Its advanced capabilities, coupled with its comfortable fit and seamless integration with Samsung’s ecosystem, make it a compelling choice for those seeking a premium smartwatch experience.
