Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G Early Hands On – Great Feature Expansion on the Cover Screen
Compared to the Fold, the Flip series devices are for the people that still remembers the good old days of flip phones but in a modern smartphone factor. So it is interesting to see what kind of experience Samsung can bring to fellow users within a more constrainted space as it is much more challenging.
But they did it anyway so let’s find out what’s in store for the Galaxy Z Flip4 5G.
There you have it. The 4th generation Flip device from Samsung. Other than it being foldable, the screen specs are pretty much going to stay as close as a normal candy bar smartphone be. At 1080p resolution with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, it is off to a good start.
The bezels are getting a slight trim resulting in a more cleaner and thinner look though. The same can be said to almost every corner of the device.
But due to the nature of vertically folded devices, you still can see the wedge shape there.
The cover display is bigger now at 1.9-inch and one may thought what’s the use of a bigger screen if there’s nothing to use. That maybe true to some in terms of viewing last gen’s Z Flip3 5G.
For starters, you may check notifications and reply message directly with it so for the quick “Okay” and “Yes”/”No” replies, you don’t need to flip the entire thing now.
You may also access the quick settings panel to toggle Wi-Fi, mobile data, torch light, all those ethings.
For the smart home people, widget control and Samsung SmartThings support makes it possible to control stuff from the cover screen directly.
For the batteries, everything is getting bumped up to 3,700mAh and Samsung’s signature 25W fast charge. Why I said this is in case you don’t know, the Z Flip3 5G’s is at 3,300mAh and 15W. Thus, any upgrade towards the power pack and charging protocol is welcome.
But I still hope for at least a 4,000mAh Li-Ion juice. Guess I gotta wait for Flip5.
The launch colors for the Z Flip4 5G is going to include Bora Purple, Graphite, Blue, and Pink Gold which makes a total of four. The finishing now is very matte though so this is a very preferencial aspect. The application looks kinda fine for the Bora Purple and Blue though as those color are leaning towards the softer side of things.
And for the first time, the Bespoke Edition special pairing is now available right from the get go for Malaysia and the quirk of this thing is the ability to customize the front, back, and frame colors to your likings with 5 for the front, 5 for the back, and 3 for the frame – totaling up to 75 kinds of possible combination.
For the accessories, some classic ones return while a couple of new guys arrive in town. For the total range, it now has the fresh slim covers and leather strap covers to give customers more options while the existing ring cover and silicone strap cover is here to stay too.

Quick Conclusion
In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G is playing a safe game, or rather they are trying to address the main issues first by enlarging what could a Flip device could do, and then probably fixing them up by further optimizing them. So in a general sense, fixing what’s need to be fix while exploring the unknown.
By the way, it now has a 2-year official warranty alongside a 3-time internal screen protector replacement to make sure everyone deserves the money paid for a foldable smartphone. Nice move and much thanks, Samsung.
