Samsung Wind-Free AR9500M Air Conditioner Makes its Way to Malaysian Homes

Samsung Electronics Malaysia demonstrated its Wind-Free wall-mounted air conditioner – the AR9500M, and it is mind-blowing. This innovative technology is designed to cater to the modern requirement in indoor climate control and optimal energy efficiency without the discomfort of direct cold airflow.
We Malaysians love our air conditioners because of the humid and scorching hot tropical weather. Often we would straight away turn the AC on maximum fan speed at its lowest 16-degrees in order to achieve fast cooling. Sometimes if we ever forget to turn down the temperatures, it would mean energy wastage and potentially become sick from the constant extreme cold temperature, especially if you’re resting right under the cold air draft.
Samsung Wind-Free AR9500M
The big idea in the new AR9500M is to provide a solution where the AC unit will quickly cool down the room without the need to set the fans to maximum. The unique Triangle Architecture has a wider inlet which allows more air to be drawn in at once while boasting the optimal width and angle of the outlet, extra v-blades and large fan. The fast-cooling mode cools the air faster than Samsung’s previous flagship models. When the room reaches the desired temperature, it will automatically switch to Wind-Free Cooling mode by closing the outlet. Cold air is then gently dispersed through the 21,000 micro air holes at the front.
I personally have heard of this kind of non-direct cooling AC units from other brands. While each of them has a different approach, some blowing cool air towards the ceiling while Samsung has chosen to switch things around and make the whole wall unit a gently cooler which I absolutely appreciate. Besides, this approach also makes the AC performing quieter, so that’s a win-win situation right there.
In line with energy-saving requirements, the AR9500M uses Samsung’s proprietary Digital Inverter 8-Pole with POWERboost technology. By having more magnetic poles in the inverter it means that fewer torque fluctuations, hence reducing overall energy requirement. As such, the AC unit is capable of maintaining the desired temperature without having to frequently turn on and off.
Last but not least, the AR9500M is also part of the Samsung Smart Things ecosystem where climate control is now within the reach of the Smart Things app. Users can remotely regulate the temperature, adjust settings, receive real-time updates about the air conditioner’s performance and daily energy usage, as well as troubleshooting issues.
