Signify Leads in 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Index
Signify has announced that it achieved the status of the industry leader in the Electrical Components and Equipment category of the 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). This is the third year in a row that Signify has been named Industry Leader and the third year it has been included since it became an independent company. For those who are not aware, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) launched in 1999, are a family of indices evaluating the sustainability performance of thousands of companies trading publicly.
The company has an overall score of 88 out of 100 points, demonstrating its continued progress in implementing sustainable measures in all aspects of its business.
“We’re extremely proud that for the third year in a row our teams have been recognized for our continued progress on sustainability, which is central to our company purpose,” said Eric Rondolat, CEO of Signify. “It is very important for us to be named for our leadership and contribution to the challenges the world is facing. But we’re also convinced more needs to be done, and I call upon business and governmental leaders to step up their efforts and accelerate sustainability actions.”
With the launch of Interact in Malaysia, Signify has laid down the significant groundwork for sustainability by providing a connectivity solution for sustainability and reducing costs for local businesses. The company has also advocated for LEDification through 2019’s Earth Hour event hosted with Publika’s MAPFest which saw the exchanging of old lightbulbs taking place and the public being better aware of their lighting choices.
In its annual evaluation, DJSI recognized Signify’s strong progress towards its 2020 commitment as part of its “Brighter Lives, Better World’ program, focusing on Sustainable operations and Sustainable revenues. As part of that program, Signify has made significant progress toward its commitment to become carbon neutral in 2020. The company reduced its carbon footprint by 49% over the course of 2018, used renewable electricity for 89% of all its electricity requirements and generated 79% of revenues from energy-efficient products, systems and services. Top scores (100/100) were obtained by Signify in the categories Materiality, Innovation Management, Environmental Reporting, Operational Eco-Efficiency and Labor Practices Indicators.
