The New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Family

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is introducing their latest & complete range of S-Class family. The S-Class Limousine, S-Class Cabriolet, S-Class Coupe, and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class offer class-leading luxury and exclusivity in every form.

As the most iconic nameplate in Mercedes-Benz history and the flagship for the brand, the S-Class family confidently asserts itself as a complete proposition to lead the premium automotive segment. 

It is rather unusual for us, tech medias, to be invited to car launches. Hence, we’re just going to talk about the tech that comes with the class-leading luxurious car. 

Distronic Plus Semi-Autonomous Driving

The Mercedes-Benz’s driver assistant technology has been around for almost 2 decades and has gone through numerous iterations and updates. First introduced back in 1999 (Distronic) to maintain a safe distance to the car at the front, the system is then refined and renamed to Distronic Plus in 2005 with upgraded cruise control.

Today, what we’re looking at is the Level 2 autonomous driving technology. Mercedes now includes a steering pilot, a parking pilot, a cross-traffic assist system, and various other autonomous driving features. The night vision camera + danger warnings have been taken out from this generation as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia responded that the feature has not been widely used in the region.

First introduced in 2017 in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the dual 12.3″ display allows the driver to control the entire infotainment system using finger swipes through the steering wheel’s touchpad. Each of the display has a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels and they merge visually to form a wide-screen cockpit.

The COMAND Online control centre provides everything we need in the move in terms of relaxation, information and communication. It includes navigation, telephone, audio, video and internet. If you’re not fond of any of those infotainment system made by car manufacturers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are both supported by the system.
