U Mobile May Just Have The Cheapest Deal For an iPhone 11
The Apple craze is once again here. With Apple’s latest release of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, some are scrambling to get the latest and greatest iPhone on the market while others can only watch and imagine the thrill of owning it. Fortunately, U Mobile may just have the cheapest deal for an iPhone 11 allowing owning one not so far-fetched. However, there’s still quite a sum of money involved but comparing buying a brand new iPhone from an authorized Apple reseller and sticking with your current telco plan, this might be able to save you a couple of bucks.
The only drawback, however, is that you are bound contractually to the telco plan for 24 months. If you don’t plan on changing your service provider anytime soon, this would be the deal for you.
Unlimited HERO Postpaid Plan
iPhone 11
Perhaps the most value for your money, in my opinion, is U Mobile’s unlimited HERO postpaid plan for the iPhone 11. Both the RM99 and RM 139 plan includes unlimited high-speed data, unlimited video streaming(standard definition for RM99 and high definition for RM 139), and unlimited calls to all network. The only difference between the two is the RM99 provides 30GB hotspot while the RM139 gives off 50GB.
Keeping your budget to a minimum, the RM 99 plan with the 64GB iPhone 11 is the cheapest deal out there. The only downside is that you’ll have to fork out RM 2,377. But comparing the retail price of the iPhone 11 of RM 3,399 with no telco plan attached to it, it doesn’t seem so bad. However, the most value for money would be the RM 99 plan with the 128GB iPhone 11. For only RM 180 extra for double the storage, it’s a bargain considering how often the storage gets full fast.
The other option that I find to be the cheapest is the Digi iPhone 11 telco plan. Even though the device price is cheaper, you’ll be forking quite a lot for the data plan every month. The Digi Postpaid 190 provides you with 100GB data, 160(70GB), 120(40GB) and 80+(30GB) respectively. While it’s not a bad amount of data, the difference in cost is small between the Digi Postpaid 80 + GBoost and the P99 from U-Mobile, 30GB and unlimited data is a very big gap for a RM 20 difference.
In the 2 year period, the U-Mobile’s HERO plan allows you to pay less compared to the Digi’s plan. For a comparison, the total cost of the Digi Postpaid 120 and 80+ GBoost brings to the amount of RM 5,278.80 and RM 4,549.20 respectively while the P99 brings you to a total cost of RM 4,895.56 for the 64GB model. Granted that the Digi 80+ GBoost is the cheapest overall, but for an internet capacity of 30GB while U-Mobile offers unlimited data, the RM 346 difference shouldn’t even be factored in this calculation. Furthermore, the total cost of RM5,278.80 from the Digi Postpaid 120(64GB)costs more than the 128GB model offered by U-Mobile’s P99 at only RM 5,075.56.
While Digi is more expensive, it does comes with better internet performance compared to U-Mobile. Click here to read our previous article on the comparisons between mobile internet company’s performances in Malaysia.
iPhone 11 Pro
Although not the main focus of the article due to its pricier price tag, I’ll just lay it out here for those interested. Comparing it with the other service providers, the price of the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max is lower with U Mobile.

UPackage
UPackage allows you to pay less than the Unlimited HERO Postpaid Plan on upfront payments but you’ll be paying more per month than the previous plan. Picking from the same RM 99 or RM 139 contract plan, you’ll also be paying the price of the device in instalments according to the rates stated per month which can easily cost up to RM 193 per month. But for the easiness of reference, the rates are stated below.

Best Deal in Town?
The Unlimited HERO Postpaid Plan is the best one in the long run with the high upfront payment of the iPhone 11 series per month compared to the UPackage and the telco plans from Digi. Unfortunately, Sabahans and Sarawakians will not be able to enjoy this bargain as U-Mobile has little to no coverage in those areas.
