Unboxing & First Impressions: Samsung Galaxy S22+

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series was launched a few weeks ago, and apparently, the series was so popular that it might take Samsung an entire month to fulfil just the existing pre-orders.
Since most of the major reviewers are going to focus on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, I thought it was fair to shed some light on the standard Galaxy S22 models. Hence, here it is, the Galaxy S22+, which I believe most of the users would pick.
Unless you have missed out on the smartphone news for the past few years, more and more brands have moved on with compact packaging by excluding the default charger.

There were a lot of backlashes when it comes to the removal of the charging brick. Users were generally not happy with the decision as they were expecting to get more for what they have paid. Like it or not, this is going to pay off in long run and promote long term usage of a charging adapter instead of treating it as disposable.
Remember to peel off all the factory protective films including the transparent sticker on the frame.
Generally, the design of the Galaxy S22+ has not changed much from its predecessor. The camera module is still placed at the top left corner with a metallic bump that is supposed to be part of the frame.
“Supposed” is the right word. We’re not sure why Samsung has decided to separate the camera module bump from the metal frame because that is the standout design from the Galaxy S21 series.
The most noticeable change is the grip-ability of the phone whereby the frame is slightly flatter but not exactly flat. In short, holding the phone feels more substantial compared with the S21 series.
The dual SIM slot is located at the bottom, together with the USB-C charging port and speaker output.
The SIM tray supports dual SIM but not a microSD card. Frankly speaking, unless you tend to keep a lot of files on your phone, I can live with an 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage option.
That’s it for now as I get the phone set up. The full review will be published after I used the phone for another two weeks, expect it to be ready sometime in mid-April. In short, I like the design refresh on the new Galaxy S22 series and looking forward to the software, camera and gaming experience on it. Stay tuned.
