User Experience: Roborock Dyad Pro Combo
We are no strangers to Roborock household cleaning appliances. In fact, we have tested a wide range of Roborock products throughout the year. From our first test of the Roborock S6 MaxV to the recent Roborock Q8 Max, it delights me how this company is so competitive when it comes to product research and development. Today what we have here is the Roborock Dyad Pro Combo, a brand-new all-in-one multi-purpose vacuum cleaner that can be used for wet, dry, or even detached cleaning. This will be my user experience sharing after owning the vacuum cleaner for about two weeks.
Disclaimer: Roborock graciously supplied the Dyad Pro Combo for the purpose of this review. It’s important to note that they have not issued any specific guidelines or directives regarding the final review. The perspectives shared in this article are solely based on my genuine and unbiased user experience.
5-in-1 Combo
The reason why Roborock calls this a 5-in-1 combo is because of all the possible use cases based on the available accessories.
5-in-1?
- Wet & dry vacuum
- Mini roller
- Crevice tool + brush tool
- Floor brush roller
Yes, they actually counted this as 2 different tools – a crevice tool vs a brush tool.
I must say, this is probably the most thoughtful dock I’ve ever seen for a standing vacuum.
Around the Dyad Pro Combo Vacuum
The Dyad Pro Combo is capable of standing by itself thanks to the joint locking mechanism design.
It also includes a soap dispenser. Roborock strongly suggests that only use recommended detergent to prevent damage to the unit.
In case you’re curious, there are 3 separate rollers underneath the unit. Roborock calls this the Dyad Power multi-roller cleaning head. The top two rollers increase the edge reach for a more efficient cleaning.
Using Wet & Dry Vacuum
Before you start using the wet & dry vacuum, make sure to fill up the clean water tank.
The clean water tank can hold up to 950ml of clean water.
By tilting the unit slightly to the back, it will unlock from the standing position.
A single press of the power button will turn on the vacuum. Pressing the cycle button will switch between different cleaning modes, such as auto mode, turbo mode, high water flow or suction-only mode.
Frankly speaking, I love how easy it is to use this vacuum cleaner. Just power it on and you will instantly feel the vacuum unit’s tendency to move forward. It is very easy to handle the cleaning directions as the constantly spinning roller provides a smooth gliding experience.
Unfortunately, due to the design limitations, the vacuum unit could not be laid flat. This may limit the use of the device for cleaning underneath bed frames or even dining tables.
Otherwise, the cleaning capability is top-notch. It picks up almost all sorts of debris from the floor. Not to mention the mopping and stain removal are exceptional. Dried stains would take a few more rounds of back-and-forth mopping, nonetheless, it gets the job done.
Roborock Mobile App
In this connected era, yes, the Dyad Pro Combo is a vacuum with network capabilities. Some might ask why we even need this since we need to operate the device manually.
Well, it is mostly used for configuring the cleaning profile and maintenance.
Detached Vacuuming Capabilities
What makes the Dyad Pro Combo special is the ability to detach the motor unit and use it as a standalone vacuum.
Detaching is as simple as a button press.
The entire vacuum cleaner is powered by this single unit, motor + battery = Mind blowing.
You will need to attach the dustbin to the motor unit to get started with dry vacuuming. Just that I find this attachment could have been better because my wife struggles to get it connected properly. The tolerance is just too tight.
It feels exactly like those hand-held automotive vacuums.
Now you can attach different cleaning tools for all sorts of vacuuming needs.
My personal favourite is no other than the 2-in-1 crevice+brush tool which is extremely useful for precision cleaning. Followed by the mini-motorised roller for sofa and bed cleaning. The floor brush roller is less impressive in my use case because it is mostly designed to work best on carpeted floors instead.
Power button to switch on and off. Mode cycle button to switch between standard or turbo mode.
The display works the same as the docked mode.
The ergonomic design is off the chart. *Chef kiss*
It is a shame that the mode cycle only includes standard and turbo, otherwise, it would be perfect for those simple cleaning tasks.
Battery life
Speaking of which, a single full charge would last for about 35 minutes on auto mode while using the DyadPower wet and dry vacuum.
While using the vacuum in detached mode with the multi-surface brush, a fully-charged battery would last for about 45 minutes.
Maintenance – Dry
The dry dustbin is quite some in comparison with other Roborock handheld vacuums. That’s fine with me as this is a multipurpose design.
Maintenance – Wet
As for the dirty water tank, always remember to clean it after every cycle because it stinks even if you leave it for a few hours. The top filter can be washed but make sure to fully dry it before reusing. Roborock has included a spare filter, so my suggestion is switching between them while waiting one to dry.
One thing I think Roborock should improve is adding any sort of locking mechanism for the top cover because right now it is only secured in place via the rubber gasket. You don’t want to accidentally drop the dirty water tank because you’re not holding on to the cap and tank.
This is like a report card on how dirty your home is.
Next up, a very important maintenance is for the rollers.
Even though the vacuum and dock come with self-cleaning and drying functions, it is still recommended to frequently clean the rollers and the inner compartment manually.
Conclusion
The Dyad Pro Combo is one impressive all-in-one vacuum system. I was not expecting Roborock to pull this off by designing a detachable motor unit and attaching it to an external dustbin. This opens up a wide range of functionalities depending on the attachment. Simply put, this is probably the ONE vacuum you will need for your home. The cleaning performance is excellent, no matter if it is a wet or dry mop or even with the vacuum attachments.
While the official listing price for the Dyad Pro Combo is RM5,799. We all know the trick, and sales are always there. Right now you can fetch one for RM2,899. Sure it is significantly more expensive than many other vacuums on the market but compared with the likes of a Dyson you would be surprised the Roborock is a steal.
