FullView Display
The main highlight of the phone is no other than the new 18:9 FullView display at the front. This is certainly the next big thing where more and more smartphone manufacturers start to release smartphones with this aspect ratio. It allows the smartphone to maintain the comfortable grip while increasing the display size. This also translates to a more immersive viewing experience during multimedia consumption. The only red flag I see here is that the display only comes at 1440×720 HD resolution.
24MP Selfie
Since the vivo V series smartphones have been focusing a lot on the selfie, we are not surprised by the number of selfie features that packed into this phone. The 24-megapixel front camera sensor outputs higher resolution, sharper and more distinctive selfies. Working along with the Face Beauty 7.0, the new app uses a new algorithm that would beautify your selfies more naturally, even in low light environments. Of course, the beautifying ability is not just limited to selfie photos, it even works with video chatting apps. The newly added feature to the selfie camera is the Portrait mode, which creates simulated background blur effect for that DSLR alike quality.
Hi-Fi Music
Besides than selfies, vivo is also putting a lot of attention on the music quality. Hence, the V7+ comes equipped with AK4376A Hi-Fi audio chip that enriches the sound quality.
Great Performance & Features
Under the hood is the Snapdragon 450 and 4 GB of RAM. I am glad that they have decided to go for the newer variation Snapdragon 450 with the 14nm FinFET fabrication process, but the pricing could have been better since they have been undercutting the display resolution and now, the SoC. Then the software runs on the phone is vivo’s Funtouch OS 3.2 that based on Android 7.1 Nougat. During the launch event, I get to try out the Face Access feature where it is capable of unlocking the devices in a split second. I wish I had more time with the device so that I could test out the overall reliability of this feature.
Pricing & Availability
The vivo V7+ will be available on 29 September 2017. Colour options include – Crown Gold and Matte Black. Pricing will be at RM 1,499 through vivo concept stores, partner stores and e-commerce marketplaces.
